After Cold war the threat changed dramatically and military forces around the world focused on international crisis management operations, which had very different requirements. Military capability in crisis management operations required less manpower and more modularity. Requirements for military equipment was emphasized for mobile, including air transportability. After 9/11 attack the main threat was terrorism. Recently chemical weapons have been used in warfare, last in Syria few years ago. And the threat of chemical weapons and even dirty bombs have arisen again during the Ukraine war. Also, in crisis management operations the whole range of CBRN threats still exist. Future operations require a variety of specialized CBRN-capabilities, and a joint approach to establish sufficient CBRN countermeasures to meet future CBRN-threats in joint operations abroad and domestically.
